Eventing with Fernances Creek Scarlet

New video of Scarlet on her first Newcomers at Denman ODE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GXkx_Vsf6I On the weekend, Fernances Creek Scarlet had her first official outing at Denman Horse Trials. It was a big course with brushes, water, ditches and lots of challenges and Scarlet was a champion. A little 12.2 haflinger cross pony was making it look easy against all of the large TB's. Out of all the fences, Scarlet had one refusal at a stone wall but then took it easily on the second attempt. She also had one run out on a small fence that we are still scratching our heads over but jumped it on the second attempt. The showjumping went really well. The dressage is still something we are working on. She managed a 52% which was good considering we have had very little flatwork in the lead up. Hopefully Steph will have her working over the holidays. We are giving Scarlet some time off before Lyndel takes her to Hidden Valley. Stay tuned for a new video of x country. We will now turn

Highlights from "A Jump in the Vines" at Fernances Creek

View the recent youtube slideshow of the "Jump in the Vines", showjumping training with Jeremy Inglis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQBzO9XqpMo It was a beautiful winters day and the liquid ambers were out in full force. It all started with hot coffee and Sharon's almond and berry muffins and a chance for the riders to get to know each other. There were all types of riders from novice to experienced. Riders were provided with instruction in show jumping and general riding and by the end of the day, Jeremy had them all going clear. There was a fabulous three course lunch and plenty for Fernances Creek Sangiovese Brunello for tasting. In the afternoon, some of the more advanced riders got another session with Jeremy. Our photographers did a great job and we thank them for the beautiful photos. If there are any of you out there with photos of lunch, please email me a photograph. Thank you all for coming and making it such a fun relaxing day.

Fernances Creek Aragon comes home from training

Image
Our 4 year old gelding, Fernances Creek Aragon has come home from training with Jeremy Inglis. He is very athletic and is already a willing showjumper. Aragon will start dressage lessons and cross country training over the school holidays and will hopefully be ready to do his first Newcomer event in the next few months.

Fernances Creek Wildfire: making his way in the world

Image
On Monday, June 2011 Wildfire was loaded up on Tasmanian Transport to his new home near Launceston, Tasmania. In spite of the rain, he looked a picture with his long white curley mane and tail. We will miss Scorchie very much and will be happy to hear how he is going from his new owners.

Our Beautful Sirocco's Quest is for Sale http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAwvJyR1igU

About 4 years ago, we purchased Sirocco's Quest " Rocco" from a local on the Central Coast. Rocco was a very successful 1 Star eventer and a good showjumper. We purchased the horse for our 12 year old daughter Stephanie as she was ready to move on to a competitive mount. It was obvious that this horse was special as well as highly educated. He took to Stephanie right away and patiently waited for her to learn how to ride him and to show her how much he loved to jump! Since then, she has had too many winnings and placings to list and the entire family just love Rocco. Now Stephanie is 16, in year 11 and has another younger horse that she is bringing on as well as riding the haflingers We would like Rocco to go to a junior rider who is at least riding C grade at pony club or a young adult  that wants to compete and move up through the ranks. Rocco is 16.1, EFA registered, A grade or championship level at pony club, C and D grade EFA winning, sixbar champion at several even

Success with A Jump in the Vines at Fernances Creek

The Fernannces Creek Haflingers and all of the visiting haflingers had a great time as well as a few thoroughbreds at the Jump in the Vines! On Saturday June 4th, Fernances Creek held it's first "Jump in the Vines" showjumping day. The day featured three time World Champion instructor, Jeremy Inglis who provided an excellent clinic to the riders. The riders varied from novice to advanced and Jeremy had them all jumping confidently by the end of the lesson. A few of the riders only expected to do a few trot poles and surprised themselves by learning to jump a course. After the morning lesson, we had an excellent three course lunch on the verandah overlooking the vineyard and a taste or several tastes of the Fernances Creek Sangiovese Brunello wine. Afterwards, there was another session with Jeremy. The event finished about 4:30 and everyone had a great time. Thanks to Jeremy for the excellent instruction and our friend Phil Janson for the photography which will be up

Fernances Creek Wildfire: Sold to Tasmania

Image
Wildfire alias Scorch has had an amazing couple for months. First up he went to Northside Riding Club and competed in the Newcomer Combined Training and came home with ribbons. A 72% dressage and a 5th in showjumping!  Next up he competed at Quirindi Newcomer and was coming 3rd in the Dressage with a 67% and a 5th in showjumping. On the cross country, he had a little run out on one large brush fence but finished with no time penalties and came in 15 place out of 32! I think next time he might nail it!!!  Scorchie has just been purchased by a lady in Tasmania and will travel down mid-month to his new and excited owners. We are very sorry to see him go as we had him entered into Denman and Hidden Valley.. Wildfire was bred here at Fernances Creek and we will miss him very much. Wildfire and his new owner Mandy in Tassie.
